PB 42.04lb Mirror Round Tail from Harefield

Most memorable was Nelson at 40.04lb Harefield 1st forty ever caught from Harefeild in 29/2/92 at 00.30 am, caught on a Rob Murphy ……… AND THE WELL DOCUMENTED CATCH OF Harefields fully scaled beauty at 37.5lb,

Currently had 24 x 30lb carp from Harefeild plus 2 x 40lbers

Favourite method is semi fixed lead with a braided hook link and a supper specialist hook, and bottom baits with stringers, currently trying a Kamasan 775 in size 6’s.

Currently using 13 ft 3.5lb Greys Platinum’s with Shimano Aerolex’s LX

Future ambitions is to join the British Carp Study Group and to catch his 3rd forty from Harefield, which would make him the only angler to have caught 3 x forties from this notoriously hard venue in Denham, Buckinghamshire, his greatest ambition that he wants to be remembered for would be as the sole lager drinker who drunk the Horse and Barge pub opposite HAREFIELD dry!

John has fished alongside some of the greats in carp fishing like Rob Maylin, Stuart Gilham, Zennon Bjoko, Dougal Gray, Billy Palmer, Roger Smith and Kerry , Richie McDonald and is often seen gracing the banks with our very own Mitch Smith.

Johns experience’s are without a doubt some of the greatest memorable achievements from an angler who has single handedly kept the spirit of Harefield alive.
